This is the very initial attempt for my music video project, my first rough cut, I still got a huge amount of undeveloped footages, but still I managed to put everything I have achieved so far together to see the effort. The first rough cut one has roughly followed my storyboard, although I have made a few changed due to the lack of time or unexpectable weather conditions, but still it basically followed the story line that I have planned initially.
Although the quality of my first rough cut is not as good as I expected, but it still in my satisfactory zone. There are few problems occurred during the shooting stage and post-production stage, first of all, I realized that the shot list I originally did is very unprofessional and immature, because of the lack of the amount of shots from different angles, it caused the music video I produced so far seems very still and lack of vitality, the shots should be changing along side with the rhythm not standing still, and this will be improved in my following progresses. Also the transitions between scenes and scenes are bit strange and unnatural, didn't create the fragmented narrative elements as I expected, and that's something I will working on too. And thirdly, the lip-syncing part of the video is totally a failure, the lip movement of the singer is not very obvious, therefore it's quite hard to build a connection for the audience between the singer and the original track, also the shot choice for the lip-syncing task is not as creative as I expected, initially I planned to use multi-techniques such as split-screen, therefore I will make the improvements in the following progresses.
Despite all the negative parts of the my rough cut one, there are still some accomplishments in my video. First of all, I have contribute the film burn techniques into the video during the post-production to give it a vintage look. And secondly I have used speed-up and slow-down tools to change the speed of some clips, also in order to make a smooth transitions between each scene, I have changed the opacity of some part of the video.
Overall, my rough cut one is a fine initial attempt for my music video project, but in order to make the best quality and best effort of the video as I can, it still got a long way to go.
