A musical genre usually means a category that identifies a specific type of music with similar conventions, traditions and ideas. And also a musical genre is not a stable definition, which means genre could change and is evolving during the years, and also a lot of subgenres has been created as well.
A subgenre basically means more specific identities and definitions in a same musical genre, usually can be identified by more specific genre conventions.
Below is a mind map that I have created that showcased some mainstream genres and subgenres that usually attracted the audience, and I will choose the musical genre that I want to produce a music video with based on this mind map.
Because there are such a huge amount of genres and subgenres that is basically impossible to listed them all, I have just created a brief genre mind map which shows the most popular seven genres. Ideally I will pick a song from "Contemporary Folk" or "Soft Rock", this range fits my own personal taste therefore it will be easier for me to contribute more creativity into this project.
